The Cliff Notes:
- We have a tendency to micromanage children but that's not really a parent’s job.
- When we, as parents, focus on managing our own behavior rather than our children's behavior, everything changes.
- Leaders who micromanage tend to hit a ceiling that halts further progress.
- We tend to assign too much meaning to every little behavior of our kids.
- Micromanaging our children interferes with their ability to grow.
- Although it's not our job to micromanage our children, it is our job to help them manage themselves.
- You don't have control over others. You only have control of your own response to others.
- It's important to teach our children that they don't have to follow the beaten path to be successful.
